Palazzo Franchetti is a beautiful palazzo on the Grand Canal right by the Accademia bridge. It now houses the Venetian Institute of Science and Letters, Instituto Venezia di Scienze, Lettere e Arti.
A café here is run by the highly respected Venetian Rosa Salva bakery and catering company. It is contemporary in style, so just because it is located in a magnificent, historical palazzo, don’t expect frescos, statues or other period features. However, it is useful to be have it up your sleeve in an area where cafes are in short supply. They have good quality coffee and pastries.
They also serve a buffet style lunch, from 12 noon to 2.30pm (advisable to get there earlier as stocks run low).
10am to 5pm, Monday to Friday.
Closed Saturday and Sunday.
