Campo Santa Margherita

This is not a “must-see” but is a useful point of orientation from where you can venture further up into San Polo.
Home to the magnificent Salute Church and connected to the San Marco district by the Accademia Bridge. Fondamenta del Zattere is a welcome and spacious walkway with lovely views over to Giudecca island. Many of Venice’s most visited museums are here, my slightly against the crowd recommendations being the magnificent Ca’ Rezzonico and the smaller Palazzo Cini.
This is not a “must-see” but is a useful point of orientation from where you can venture further up into San Polo.
The Zattere is a long, wide and straight walkway running the length of Dorsoduro.
There is a mixture of food shops and fresh fruit, vegetable and fish markets catering to the locals combined with mainly (upmarket) tourist focussed shops selling Murano glass, ornaments and paintings.
This is the former customs house of Venice located at the very tip of Dorsoduro behind the church of Santa Maria della Salute.
Houses a significant part of the art collection of renowned 20th century collector, Vittorio Cini. Housed in a beautiful palazzo on the Grand Canal.
This is a much visited museum housed in the unfinished former Palazzo dei Leoni on the Grand Canal.
This magnificent palazzo on the Grand Canal is worth visiting, both to marvel at the magnificence of the palazzo itself.
Easily located as one of the pedestrian bridges to cross the Grand Canal is named after the closeby Accademia Gallery.
One of my favourite things in Venice is discovering and visiting the churches.
This is located on Zattere which is the long walkway going along the length the sestiere of Dorsoduro.
This three star hotel is in a great location in Dorsoduro right by the Accademia gallery and by the Accademia bridge over to San Marco
Located right on the Grand Canal towards the San Salute tip of Dorsoduro, the location is second to none.
Location wise, this hotel scores very highly located just to the side of the San Salute church.
A nice old wine merchants / wine bar overlooking a quiet canal.
This homely restaurant is set in a lovely quiet square set back from the long Zattere walkway.
Low key, nice atmosphere and excellent good value wine at this restaurant / wine bar, which is more restaurant than wine bar.
Meat only here, which is unusual for Venice where fish is the norm.
This small hotel is in an excellent location in Dorsoduro.
A wonderful feature of this restaurant is the terrace outside.
Ai Gondolieri is in a lovely setting by a picturesque canal seconds from the Peggy Guggenheim Museum.
