Vini da Gigio

As the name suggests, the owners are passionate about wine. The food is equally as important to them with produce being sourced daily from the Rialto Market, with plenty of traditional Venetian dishes.

A smart, atmospheric osteria in a quiet area of Cannaregio. Nice tables outside in the summer months. The chef is Sicilian and makes his pasta fresh daily.
Slightly off the beaten track down Fondamenta Savorgnan. Excellent fried seafood (“frittura”) and pleasant, casual atmosphere.
These are in very short supply. If either the Osteria Enoteca San Marco or the ABC Bistrot Quadri do not appeal, I would recommend making your way across the Grand Canal to the Dorsoduro sestiere.
This contemporary styled osteria is open all day from 12.30pm and is located very close to St. Mark’s Square.
Set in the elegant Ponga room of the historic Gran Caffè Quadri in St. Mark’s Square, is the ABC bistrot
This homely restaurant is set in a lovely quiet square set back from the long Zattere walkway.
Low key, nice atmosphere and excellent good value wine at this restaurant / wine bar, which is more restaurant than wine bar.
Meat only here, which is unusual for Venice where fish is the norm.
