Exceptionally beautiful and historic café in St. Marks Square, dating from 1720. Definitely worth a visit, if only to marvel at the splendid salons in the café, one more ornate than the next.
There are three levels of pricing – the cheapest being at the bar, then in the salon with the most expensive being out on the terrace, in St. Mark’s Square. You will also be charged for the enjoyment of the orchestra. The salons are especially beautiful and you are paying for this experience, not just the coffee or the glass of prosecco.
If you are expecting to see well heeled locals or wealthy eccentric types, you may be disappointed as the clientele are predominantly tourists, many with maps and rucksacks.
