Ca’ Pesaro

This monumental Baroque palace on the Grand Canal houses the Oriental Art Museum and the Museum of Modern Art.  The former is the collection of Italian aristocrat, Prince Enrico de Borbone, who travelled through Asia between 1887 and 1889, and bought up huge amounts of Japanese art from the Edo period (betweem 1603 and 1868).

The Museum of Modern Art houses collections from the art movements of the 19th and 20th centuries and includes works by Gustav Klimt and Marc Chagall.
