Tonolo is outstanding and my personal favourite.  The pastries are cooked on the premises and presented and served with great care, pride and attention.  Their coffee is served in fine blue spode type china which heightens the experience.  Extremely popular with locals.  For the widest choice it is better to get there in the morning, after 9am to avoid the early morning crowds.  I recommend their krapfen a la crema, which is a light doughnut with a type of custard in the middle.  These are unlikely to remain available beyond 11am.

During high levels of acqua alta, the shop can get flooded, but this does not deter locals.  They stand at the bar in their wellies and continue as though it is the most normal thing in the world to be standing in 4 inches of water in a bakery.
